Dirty News by Michelle Love

Dirty News (Dirty Network, #1)Dirty News by Michelle Love

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I usually love Michelle Love's novels. They are really hot and fun to read. I was a little disappointed in Dirty News. I just felt like the plot was unbelievable and just kept repeating itself over and over again. The situations were outrageous on how no one can touch another employee because it would be looked at like they were flirting. It just seemed like Love was stretching to find conflict in this story. But she sure can write the love scenes. I just felt like it was unbelievable just like a Hallmark holiday movie that is filmed in June and the snow is melting. I didn't hate it, just thought it needed a little more umph and less repeating the situation over and over again.
I received an ARC copy to give an honest review.

Jenna's Cookie Award: Insescapable Fate by Hanleigh Bradley

Although I hate cliffhangers, this is one that I CAN NOT WAIT until the next book. Bradley wrote such great characters from the get go. And the fun thing about it, you still don't know what is going on in the two lead characters Georgia and Trent. They are so closed with their background that when it finally unravels you get more and more into the story. And when they start to get closer and closer, you can imagine how they are looking at each other and that's what great. Bradley not only makes you imagine what she is explaining but you can imagine the way the characters smirks and look are like. And she doesn't force you to think it, her writing just flows so well that she's not forcing you to imagine, you just do it on your own. I love how she didn't even make you feel like you were reading a story. You were somehow living it with them.
I received an ARC for an honest review and can not wait until Hanleigh is done with her next one!

Jenna's Cookie Award: The Ruler by Elin Peer

When I'm reading this series, I want to put my full attention to it. Only read this book and not 5 others while I'm in the process of read Elin Peer's books. The reason for this is because it's like going into a different world that Peer has created with two different worlds colliding together. These worlds are one of a kind. Yes, you can say one world is bad and one world is good or it's the equivalent to heaven and hell. But there is just so much more in these detailed troublesome worlds on both ends that you just want to keep reading to see what happens.

And of course I have stayed up WAY past my bedtime a number of times with these journeys that I am taking. That is why I can't put them down. Knowing that, when I first was getting ill during the wonderful flu season I thought, “oh, that's perfect time for me to sit and relax and read.” Little did I know I wasn't able to because of all the sophisticated ways Peer writes, you don't want to miss any word in the sentence. Or you actually want to absorb what you just read instead of reading over the pages as many people do when they are taking a codeine cough medicine. So I had to stop. For a very long time. Four months to be exact.

But when I came back it took only two days to read it. The way Peer has the characters flow through the book. "The Mentor" was no different. It was like a battle of cat and mouse to see who will succumb first. Khan, the leader of the Nmen or Councilwoman Pearl a soft yet feisty woman who will not give up her power to anyone. Especially Khan. It was quite amusing with those two playing a game of tennis back and forth on flirting and hating each other and often doing both at the same time. Peer knows how to write sexual tension. A little too well. I was screaming in my head, "will you just tell them already!!!" And when they do, it almost comes out in the most unexpected places. I don't know if Peer is good more at sexual tension or taking the reader on a roller coaster ride where you don't know where the next drop is going to be.

I absolutely adore Peer's writing. It is like no other. Going through the journey through these worlds is always imaginative and wonderful. Like you want these worlds to exist. You never know what is going to happen, but you know it's going to be something magical.
So that it has taken me over 4 months to finish this book. I already purchased the next two because not only do I have to support a fellow author, she absolutely in my "book" (no pun intended) is one of the best writers I have had the joy of reading. Even though I am so far behind, I would keep reading as many as she is going to give.
But not with codeine cough syrup, that's for sure.😏

Jenna's Cookie Award: Her Dark Melody by Michelle Love

Her Dark Melody: A Billionaire Romance (Season of Desire Book 3)Her Dark Melody: A Billionaire Romance by Michelle Love

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I love reading Michelle Love books. I know what I'm jumping into. But reading Her Dark Melody, I had the faintest idea what I would get involved in. When I read the synopsis for the book, it said about a girl who captivates you with her voice. Being a professional singer myself, I thought "Okay, this could be cool." Little did I know this was going to be a thriller as well as and sizzling hot romance.
I absolutely loved the characters. Fell in love with them from the start, and this journey that Ms. Love puts you on, is like a roller coaster. There is so much going on, and twists and turns that you can't find the bar to hold onto.
Not only were there all these turning and going at a high speed, there was also loops that turn you upside down. And that is not just talking about the steamy sexy hot scenes Ms. Love personally knows how to go with just enough and then not be disappointed in the end. And I don't care if the person was reading what I was reading on my phone on the train. Too bad for him being nosy. They know that they're not doing a good thing but grow a little bit in the pants region from those sizzling scenes.
But it wasn't just about the sex, or the surprising hills going up and down on that roller coaster. It was also a majority of a woman who was a beautiful singer, who just happen to fall into a family of hurt and desire. And the sultry voice who takes over everyone whiles she's singing, just loves her new found family. No matter what.
I must say, the names where very unique in this book:Ebony, Atlas, Cormac, Fino. I must say my only problem was getting use to all the characters that came in and out of the story. But I absolutely grew to love the family
This was a complex read, I actually had to pay attention more. But I truly did enjoy how it rode smoothly uphill and downhill throughout. It was a great read. I did receive this advanced reader copy from the author for an honest review.

Better Late then never (revised)

So I've just posted a lot of reviews that I didn't get a chance to in the last month and a half. After the cold, scare of pneumonia, and trying to move into my new house! This year is a brand new beginning. I will find time to publish my first novel Jenna and the Professor and will learn from the authors that I support by reading their books and hopefully will get a few pointers for being a newbie. I will be on much more.....hopefully....

It’s now the end of 2019. Let’s see if my New Year’s Resolution for 2020 comes true. Publishing my first novel this year. Carpe Diem 2020!

Jenna's Cookie Award: The Forbidden Sitter by Michelle Love

The Forbidden Sitter: A Billionaire Holiday Romance (Nightclub Sins Book 1)The Forbidden Sitter: A Billionaire Holiday Romance by Michelle Love

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received an Advanced Copy to supply a honest review of the author's work.

From the very beginning Gannon has a surprise of a lifetime. A woman comes in his office and almost literary throws a kid at him and starts to leave saying "here, this is your's". Gannon was thrown off big time. Besides other things of bad luck happens to this hottie, Gannon gets confirmation that the boy is his. The minute he finds that out, his heart melts. But how does he take care of this child.
In comes Brooke, her brother is his best friend, and she ends up being the little boy's sitter.
Besides getting threats from her brother to Gannon, and the warning from Brooke saying her family will kill her, the undeniable happens. They fall for each other. This is where the book actually gives it hope. Love writes these characters with so much heart on their sleeves, you actually feel for them.
Besides her description of how undeniable adorable the little boy is, you also need a fan for all the hot and sexy parts of the two main characters going to bed. Numerous times. Which is perfectly fine with me. Sometimes even my toes curled imagining the descriptions Love authors.
Throughout the whole book, it was back and forth from both Brooke and Gannon how can they keep their love be kept a secret, yet second guessing everything. I didn't have a problem with it. In fact it kept on wanting me to keep reading more and more.
Me being a sucker for unique ways of ending the story and you just don't know how the author is going to do it, I was in love with how she ended it.
You always wish that a Billionaire would be in your life. And this one had a heart of gold being written so well. Wishing I could go home to one myself but only in my mind like how all authors wish you will finish a book written with such emotion. Always daydreaming for your Gannon.

Jenna's Cookie Award: Finding Sarah Miller by C.L. McGrath

Finding Sarah Miller: Book One Finding Sarah Miller: Book One "Finding" Series by C.L. McGrath

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Finding Sarah Miller was a well written novel and pretty darn hot in a lot of the chapters. Sarah tried to find herself by going out on a road trip and is distracted by the most beautiful man that made her toes curl. I thought the character of Sarah was written well, with her doubts and paranoid thoughts like any other woman. You would think she would come off as annoying because all these good things are happening to her. (Especially in bed with her lover Marcus) But McGrath writes Sarah with a heart. And we actually see the trials and tribulations of her life, even though sometime very strange how everything fall into her lap perfectly. The heartache that she encounters is so true to life. Everyone who has had their heart broken and feel for her. I wish I could have Sarah's life. It flowed throughout the whole book.
Unfortunately it got a little too repetitive for me. I feel McGrath could of got her point out much less. Although I did not mind all of the hot sex scenes. Whoa. Very well written.
Finding Sarah Miller made me root for her throughout the book. And her questioning of "is this really happening" made it so much more realistic than a fairy tale. Just thought she could of found where she was a little earlier than the lengthy book. But have the utmost respect of actually writing a true realistic character who gets it all, the good, bad, and the everything.
I did receive a free copy of the book for a true and honest review.
